Trick is it is “at rest” at both points x=0 and x=1
The least absolute acceleration occurs when a is constant at all times (|a|=constant), but changes directions at the midpoint. This will be at t=1/2 and x=1/2. This is provable if you want to do a little calculus, but it also common sense. Ergo,
Δ d = 1/2 a Δt^2
a = 2 Δ d /Δt^2
Δ d = 1/2
Δ t = 1/2
a = 2 * .5 / (.5)^2
a = 4
