Carbon Monoxide Detector – faulty?
We had a bit of an incident last night where our Fireangel carbon monoxide detector (make CO-808) sounded a low level alarm.
We had transco out to see if they could source the problem, and they advised us that it was probably a fault with the alarm – it wouldnt stop sounding the alarm when pressing the test/reset button, or even when we took the alarm outside!
The only gas appliance we had been using was the hob – which we havent had any problems with before however now I have thought about it – the ignition on the gas hob has recentley stopped working (so we have been lighting this with matches) and there is a very small build up of black powder (soot?) around each ring. There is a blue flame with an occasional flicker of orange – could this be a problem with the hob that set the alarm off rather than a fault with the carbon monoxide detector?
sounds like a major fault in the detector, get a new one and see if it sets off, if it does your hob may be the problem.
